Write longer without repeatedly dipping your glass pen into the ink.

A glass pen designed to let you write with greater freedom. Its integrated ink reservoir extends each writing session, while its fine, hand-shaped tip delivers a precise, controlled stroke.

  • Integrated ink reservoir write and draw longer with ink stored directly inside the pen
  • Fine tip approximately 0.30 to 0.45 mm depending on the pen, ink and paper
  • Controlled ink flow calibrated capillary channel for consistent ink delivery
  • Easier cleaning simplified internal design for faster rinsing
  • Easy filling simple filling from the back of the pen with a pipette

Requin Renard

The first glass pen with an integrated ink reservoir.

As you write, ink travels from the reservoir to the tip. Air progressively replaces the volume of ink being used, while the capillary channel regulates the ink flow.

The reservoir reduces the need to repeatedly dip the pen into the inkwell during writing or drawing sessions.

The pen is made entirely from borosilicate glass.

Use

Use and care.

Key instructions for using and caring for your glass pen.

Fill the pen from the top using the supplied pipette.

Depending on the viscosity of the ink, light priming may sometimes be required after filling. Gently blow through the top of the pen, with the tip directed toward absorbent paper, to help the ink travel down to the tip.

Use water-based inks.

Some other fluid inks may also be compatible depending on their formulation. Tested brands and references are listed in our compatible inks guide.

Avoid acrylic, metallic, glitter or shimmer inks, as well as gel-based or overly thick formulations.

As a general rule, choose water-based formulations.

After use, rinse the tip, remove the silicone cap if fitted, then fill the pen with water.

Then turn the glass pen with the tip facing upward and gently shake it to remove the water and diluted ink inside.

Repeat the process until the water runs clear and no visible traces of ink remain inside the pen.

For a short break, immerse only the tip of your glass pen in a shallow amount of water.

Your pen stand can hold the pen in this position.

For an extended break, if you cannot clean the pen immediately, immerse it completely in water to prevent the ink inside from drying. Keep it immersed until you are able to clean it.

Material & design

A glass pen defined by its tolerances.

The process begins with transparent, calibrated borosilicate glass. Certain functional geometries are then adjusted at the micron scale to control the consistency of the capillary channel and tip.

Every small difference matters

Within a capillary channel, even small geometric variations can affect priming, ink circulation or stroke consistency. Ink behaviour depends in particular on the geometry of the channel, its viscosity and its surface tension. Certain functional sections of our glass pens are calibrated at the scale of a few tens of microns.

From glass to tip

The pen is made from transparent laboratory-grade borosilicate glass tubing. The dimensional consistency of the tube provides the basis for the work carried out on the capillary channel and tip. Each tip is flame-shaped, then adjusted and polished by hand to precise dimensional criteria.

Testing and selection

Each glass pen is tested to check priming, ink flow and stroke consistency. Any pen that does not meet all of our internal criteria is rejected and recycled. Only approved pieces are cleaned, annealed and then shipped.

Additional information

About your glass pen.

Our glass pens are made from laboratory-grade borosilicate glass. They are, however, still glass instruments and should be protected from drops, direct impacts and excessive pressure on the tip.

A transparent protective case is supplied with each pen.

Because each tip is shaped individually, slight variations in length and geometry may occur from one pen to another.

A traditional glass pen generally uses a spiral-grooved glass tip, extended by a handle whose shape and decorative treatment form a major part of each model’s identity.

Requin Renard chose to rethink this architecture. The body of the pen was transformed into an ink reservoir, giving a functional role to the section traditionally used as the handle.

The conventional tip geometry was also replaced with a new tip developed entirely in France.

This new tip is built around an integrated capillary channel and calibrated dimensions. Combined with the reservoir, it extends writing time between fills while regulating the flow of ink to the tip.

Very light contact with the paper is sufficient. The pen is designed to glide across the surface without additional pressure.
